First, this article is not about the city, but the province. Second, you need a motorbike.. Because the roads are not devoloped jet and if you take the local buses you will probably have a sore bum after 15 minutes.
We are driving Honda win, but if you plan to rent a bike, rent a offroad/dirt bike, and you need to know how to drive one.

We can’t find any interesting information on Internet about this area, such a shame. Google maps are not updated either, we used Google map satellite and some guessing and luck. The area is enough for it self to take trip, but if you want some goals, Monkey forest is fun. This is a small forest with monkeys, the village think they are sanctuary and have bin taking care of them since people built this village. This you find on Google, but we choose a different route, that was so beautiful, this we found on satellite.

After Monkey forest we went to Hotay Pidok library, an old Buddhist tempel and library from 17th century. We didn’t understand how to behave and were a little lost, but they are making new information signs so I think it will be worth going there, at least for the ride.
Day 3 we went to the Turtle Lake, this is also “holy ground” and the village has saved the Turtles. They sell snacks you can give the Turtles, and they eat out of your hand, be careful they eat fingers to. Very nice experience, this turteles are so cute. There is a nice restaurant next to the lake also.

We are staying in a pretty large town, but it’s not on the map! Or it is, but it looks like a small village. Mouang Champon is a districtsenter. We found a really nice guesthouse, but it’s not on Google, really cheap, clean, and friendly staff.
The 4 day we went to a crocodile conservatory inside a temple. This will be a part of the Laos tourism, but they are still working with the community to drift the project. We where lucky to go there because people on the project are living at the same guesthouse as we do. The siamise crocodile in this area is tretened because the wetlands are used for farming. The project is taking nest into captivity and breed the crocodiles for 18 months before returning them to the wild. At the crocodile view we saw the 3 months old small crocodiles.

There is many roads around here, some are bad and some are really bad, but they are fun! So if you want to go, take your time and enjoy!
